Hello beauty fanatics, today I’m going to review a facial treatment that is part of my regular routine: the AmorePacific Treatment Enzyme Peel.
Although this is sold at Sephora, this brand is a Korean brand. AmorePacific is one of the brands under the Amore Pacific company, which is also the parent company of other well known brands such as Sulwhasoo, Innisfree, HERA, Etude House, etc.
So what is an enzyme peel you may ask?
An enzyme peel is a beauty product that is used to deeply cleanse and resurface the skin on the face by treating the upper layers of skin or you can call it exfoliation as well. It is called a peel because it literally helps to peel dead skin cells off of the skin. The face is left clearer with a more even tone and texture. Also, these peels help promote renewal within healthy skin cells. They can also help diminish the visibility of scars, age spots, and wrinkles.
This enzyme peel is designed to exfoliate your skin and even your skin tone without chemical abrasives. It is made with papaya-based enzymes, green tea leaf extracts, and allantoin. This product also states that it is formulated without:
Sulfates
Petro-Chemicals
Phthalates
So what is inside the bottle? The peel is in powder form, the bottle design is very smart itself, it dispenses just the right amount when you turn the bottle upside down to pour the product out. You will never waste any product with this design!
So this is how I use it:
Since this is a treatment, you should use this after you cleanse your face, not as a cleanser. On my wet hands, I pour the powder onto my hands and rub my hands until a creamy foam forms, I then apply it on my wet face and massage or rub it around my face for about 45 seconds to a minute. Yes you have to rub it for literally 45 seconds to a minute for this to work its full potential. Then I rinse my face and wash all the product off and pat my face dry with a clean towel.
The first thing I noticed while rubbing my face is how nice the smell is. It is like a fresh scent that is not too overwhelming but it made me want to keep rubbing because I don't want the smell to go away just yet. After wiping my face dry my skin felt very plump and soft, i love how this feels. No tightness, no dryness! Although on the package it says you can use morning and night as desired, I'm only using this as a weekly treatment. The reason I chose to only use this once a week is because I don't feel my skin needs this daily or more than once a week. If your face is dry and flaking or your skin needs more frequent exfoliation, I recommend you use this as it suits your needs. This is mild enough for everyday use for sure.
I have tried other exfoliants such as BHA, which is more drying for my skin so this peel is actually perfect for me. It evens my skin tone (but so does a lot of my other products so I cannot accurately rate how much this contributed to my even skin tone). Having said that, this definitely is a contributor, as I can see my skin brighten, my dead skin removed, and my skin softened.
I would repurchase this when this bottle is finished!
You can buy this at Sephora online and retail locations, it retails for $72 CDN plus tax. It is a pretty steep price to pay but depending on how many times you use it a week, this can last a long time if you use it once a week like me and is definitely worth the investment!
